Mummy. Dad... The room down the hall. The cows. The wolves. The witches, ghosts, vampires and all the rest of the relatives. But what's really under my bed?.... There are thousands of questions that a boy and a girl ask themselves. Questions that have traditionally been considered taboo in children's theatre. Death, illness, loneliness, fear? Through textual and spectacular analysis, the essay explores the need to reflect these terrible themes in theatrical creation aimed at children. Anyone who still considers childhood to be the happiest of times has lost his or her memory; fear, questions, simply adapt their size to the size of the person asking them. The essay exemplifies this through numerous textual and spectacular materials, and focuses its gaze, in a more detailed way, on the play A girl, by the Granada-based company La Rous.

Lola Fernández de Sevilla (Madrid, 1982) is a playwright and PhD in Philosophy.
