The jury decided to award the prize because of the relevance of the subject matter and the intellectual ambition with which it is approached. The work demonstrates a broad knowledge of the theoretical framework of literature and the performing arts for children and young people, as well as the author's solvency in the handling of an interdisciplinary bibliography.
The jury also emphasises that the work stimulates creative freedom by claiming the necessary inclusion, for both aesthetic and pedagogical reasons, of subjects usually considered taboo in the performing arts for children and young people.
Lola Fernández de Sevilla (Madrid, 1982) is a playwright from the RESAD and also holds a PhD in Philosophy from the UCM. She has trained with playwrights such as Martin Crimp, José Sanchis Sinisterra and Simon Stephens.
Her short story Cosas que hace Lucía was awarded and published in 2012 by Les Filanderes de Langreo. She has written the novel Las mujeres fuertes, and several dramatic texts that have been premiered in different venues in Madrid: El otro lado (Microteatro por dinero, 2012), Negra es la noche que llega (La Usina, 2013; subsequent tour of Brazil and Uruguay with Acción Cultural Española) and La casa. A house (Nave 73 and La Gatomaquia, 2015-16).
In 2013 she premiered her monologue Leonor must die at the Atelierhof Kreuzberg in Berlin, and in 2016 she directed and premiered Ballerina, a gestural theatre piece aimed at children, which has a full season at the Off de La Latina.

She has collaborated with Acotaciones magazine, Primer Acto and Pikara Magazine. She is co-director of the University Diploma ‘Cuerpo y Narratividad: Escritura Performativa y Perspectiva de Género’ (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and coordinator of Helvéticas Escuela de Escritura.
