Carles Cañellas, professional puppeteer since 1976, dean of Catalan string puppeteers, considered by international critics as one of the best and most skilful European puppeteers, created Els Rocamora (now Rocamora Teatre) in 1982, while living and working in Italy, after having worked with the Barcelona groups: T.I.Z. (1974-76), Grupo-Taller de Marionetas (1976-78), Col-lectiu d'Animació de Barcelona (1978-80) and the Circ-Cric circus (1980-81). Lecturer at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, in the 2005-06 academic year. He directs shows for other companies and works in film and television as an actor and also as a designer, builder and animator of puppets and objects. Director of the Festival de Titelles del Moianès and Espai Animacions, a centre for puppetry initiatives.
